Snoopy in orbit
On the caseback, Snoopy appears on the Service Module (CSM) as a magic hand. When the chronograph is activated, it travels towards the Moon, decorated on the sapphire crystal. An Earth disc also rotates once per minute, synchronized with the small seconds hand.
The legendary tachymeter scale appears in white enamel on a blue ceramic [ZrO2] bezel and includes a tribute to the Speedmaster's history with a dot over the number ninety. The color scheme continues on the silver dial with blue PVD hour markers and angled hands.
The silver dial features laser-engraved Ag925 and our favorite dog in a silver medallion embossed on the blue subdial at 9 o'clock. The mascot is wearing his iconic spacesuit, similar in style to the famous Silver Snoopy Award pin.
The NAIAD LOCK system keeps all caseback engravings in the correct position, including tributes to Apollo 13 and the Silver Snoopy Award. OMEGA received the award seven months after the Speedmaster helped save the Apollo 13 crew.
The blue nylon fabric strap matches the watch's other blue elements and even features the Apollo 13 mission trajectory embossed on the lining. The famous orbit around the far side of the Moon is also included.

On the caseback, Snoopy appears inside his Service Module (CSM), on a magical hand. When the chronograph seconds hand is used, Snoopy embarks on a journey to the far side of the Moon, which has been decorated on the sapphire crystal with a unique microstructured metallization process. Also present is an Earth disc that rotates once per minute in sync with the watch's small seconds hand.
MOVEMENT
The watch is powered by the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Caliber 3861—the latest update to the legendary Moonwatch movement. It took four years to produce a caliber capable of achieving Master Chronometer certification while simultaneously matching the dimensions of the previous Moonwatch movement, the 1861.
OMEGA uses synthetic sapphire crystal with a scratch-resistant and anti-reflective treatment to enhance the details of its watches. Produced using the Verneuil process, which involves fusion with an oxygen/hydrogen flame, the crystal reaches a grade 9 on the Mohs hardness scale, making it virtually scratch-proof and ensuring excellent visibility.
316L stainless steel is OMEG's preferred material for watches, offering beauty, strength, and value. Its high corrosion resistance and polished shine make it ideal for everyday watches and demanding environments, such as diving and adventure.
OMEGA has unique expertise in ceramics, an inorganic material treated at high temperatures, which it has been using for over 10 years. Ceramic pieces are dense and have exceptional mechanical properties. Popular with customers, ceramics are lightweight (twice as light as stainless steel), scratch-resistant, chemically inert, hypoallergenic, environmentally friendly, and non-magnetic, and available in a wide range of colors.

The legacy of comics
For over half a century, Snoopy has been the "watchdog" of NASA's safety program. Besides representing the overall success of missions, he also maintains a lighthearted attitude in more serious situations. Since 1968, the Silver Snoopy Award has been given to individuals or companies that have significantly contributed to the "success of human space missions."
“I took two OMEGAs into space. One with mission elapsed time and the other with Houston time.”
