A Milestone in Timekeeping

In the 1960s, NASA sought a watch capable of withstanding the extreme conditions of space travel and issued a call to watch brands to submit their chronographs. Several brands responded, including OMEGA, which presented its Speedmaster model (ST105.003 from 1964), Longines with its Wittnauer 235T model, and the ....X brand with the reference 6238. After subjecting these models to eleven rigorous tests, only one watch emerged victorious: the OMEGA Speedmaster. Demonstrating unparalleled robustness and precision, it was officially qualified for all manned missions on March 1, 1965, marking the beginning of OMEGA's remarkable journey in space exploration.

Unique Counters

The Bioceramic MOONSWATCH 1965 features two unique counters at the 10 and 2 o'clock positions, a nod to the year 1965. These counters have been calibrated to total 19 hours (counter at the 10 o'clock position) and 65 minutes (counter at the 2 o'clock position), making the chronograph readable slightly differently than typical chronographs.

The Unique Features of the 1965

This unique timepiece features a case and buckle crafted from Bioceramic in a gray hue that evokes the look of stainless steel. It features the original OMEGA logo, typeface, and hands, giving the Bioceramic MOONSWATCH 1965 a distinct vintage appeal. Additionally, the OMEGA logo from that era is elegantly displayed on the crown and bracelet.
